I did it!!!

I ran! At first it was only 15 seconds, the second time a little longer and the next time it was 27 seconds. I did another run but not sure on time after the last one. But I did it!!! And I'm not giving up until I run a mile and then another mile and another...

I do need some pointers though. My feet felt like they were smacking the ground hard. I know I carry a lot of weight but those contestants on The Biggest Loser carry more and dang it, they run!  And my breathing, I thought my lungs would explode. But I'll be out there running again tomorrow. Any tips or pointers?

I've lost...

Since the first of the year and with all the falling off the wagon and getting back on the wagon I've lost a total of 12 pounds. Should be and could have been more. I am responsible for that. I will fix that. I just need to change my eating habits. I need to realize that I can't eat what my kids and husband do. I don't have the same metabolism as they do. I need healthier foods that will help me to lose weight. And exercise.

Yesterday I took walk on our property. We have 57 acres. I need to learn to walk the grounds. Soon I won't be able to as the fields will be planted. But for now, the excuses need to stop.

So far....

I have logged my food intake for 3 days. I've done really good except for yesterday. We stopped at Sonic while we were out. I had just walked 1 and 1/4 mile too. I should have gotten the salad but they had only 2 to choose from. Neither looked good. I know, no excuses! I did however come home and calculate the points. Put me 28 over, yikes! But I counted them and marked them off. So I did use part of the 49 weekly. I never use them. This time. I did.

We are trying to simplify life. I was willing to give up my Blackberry. I had since Christmas but still didn't really see what all the hype was about it. It was like walking around with a mini laptop in your pocket. You had everything right there in your phone. I could check email, Facebook, Twitter and anything else I needed to check. I didn't like it. I want freedom from the computer when I leave home. I do have some texts set up through my LG Chocolate Touch for Facebook. Only certain people though. I don't want to be tied to my phone at all times. It's my lifeline to my kids and husband but that's all I want. We are also going to get rid of the satellite dish. I will keep Netflix. I also need to invest in a Roku for the bedroom so we can watch Netflix in there. Have to buy a digital converter box as my TV is still analog. No sense buying a new TV if the one I have still works. We would like to see our kids outside more away from the TV, computers and video games. I want to be outside exploring with them. We have wasted too many years and too much money on things that we don't really need.

Talking myself into going out for a walk. I would love to run! I've never ran in my life for fun. I want to do it! I'm just afraid I can't. I don't want people to see me and say "OMG, did you see that lady running? Did you see how big she is?", yep that's what scares me most. Need to get over that.

Sewing

Yes I know it has nothing to do with dieting or exercise. Well unless you count lugging in my sewing machine. Then lugging it back out. Oh and setting it up. I did do a lot of moving around.

Anyway I wanted to share some pictures of what I did so far.
I just need to sew all those together. Attach the sides and middle then move onto the batting and back and it'll be done. The class I go to is on the 3rd Saturday of month from 9-1 and I take it with my cousin. We are also going to attend the Tuesday night class too. It was so much fun and I had such a blast. I'm learning to use my sewing machine too!

One of the other girls made us a group on Facebook awhile ago. At our meeting on Friday we decided we were going to start posting what we ate everyday to help motivate each other and to help us all stay on track. So far we've done it for 2 days. Today is day 3. Friend Making Monday

FMM: We Heart Surveys!

1) What's your favorite brand of make-up? Are you loyal to one brand? I like E.L.F., eyes lips face http://www.eyeslipsface.com/ they sell makeup for a $1 and up. I love to place an order whenever they have free shipping or half off. I also like to buy Mary Kay as my cousin is a representative. But I'm not loyal to one brand. If I like a color, I'll buy to try it. If I like it then I'll buy more from the company and if I don't like it I don't waste my time or money again.

2) What is the last thing you drank? Right now I'm stuck on Sprite Zero. I had given up pop at the beginning of the year but after going through a rough month I started drinking it again. I did however switch to no caffeine. I just missed the bubbles. And the sparkling water was not cutting it.

3) What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?Tagalongs. I could eat an entire box of them. I don't buy them anymore for that reason.

4) French Fries or Onion Rings? French fries. I love french fries!! Homemade ones. But when the Fair in our county comes around I like their onion rings. That's the only time I'll eat onion rings. They are bigger than my hand and the outer shell is just delicious.

5) Share something you've done in the last week that makes you proud of yourself. I helped out my friends mom by taking her to the hospital. She had no idea where the place was so I volunteered to drive her. You can read it about it in my last entry.

6) What is your favorite inexpensive indulgence? Makeup. See #1

7) Are you currently reading a book? If so, which one? I am reading Debbie Macombers 311 Pelican Court..its part of a series and I'm on book #3.

8) Do you prefer to text or talk? I prefer talking. It's always nice to hear someones voice. And you can never tell what kind of mood they are in by a text. I do like texting too though but I would rather talk to the person.

9) Have you ever performed on stage? If so, what did you do? Not since Camp in 6th grade. We had to do a skit. We sat with garbage bags over us while another person sat behind us and were our arms. Needless to say I wore my breakfast that they fed me and had my cheek brushed instead of my teeth. It was a lot of fun! But messy.

10) Are you more likely to pick truth or dare? I'd pick truth. I'd be afraid of what someone might dare me to do. LOL!

Where have I been?

I seemed to have disappeared since last Monday. There wasn't too much going on. Monday was the start of school again. The kids have been going down to Grandma's for that. I was getting frustrated with Math with my daughter so Grandma volunteered to help me out. And now my daughter is doing great in Math and will be ready for her OAA's in April.

Tuesday I drove my friends mother to the University hospital in Michigan. She has cancer and they are doing treatment up there. She is Stage 4 kidney cancer or clear cell cancer they call it. She may lose a kidney but she is ok with that. I'm not sure where else the cancer has spread. I know she has come clots in her lungs. But with her faith being so strong and she is so determined to get the treatment going and over with that I know she will pull through.

Wednesday was spent at home cleaning house.

Thursday I went to visit my Aunt who turned 92 on Friday. She is in a nursing home now. Beautiful place. She was asleep when we arrived but knew we were there.

Friday I had to go to town to mail out the car payment. Ruby (my car) decided to show me her low oil light so I called the mechanics and set up an oil change appointment. While I waited in town for the appointment, I treated my kids to lunch. Ruby got her oil changed and I came back to home to finish cleaning. I host a meeting once a month at my house for me and 4 other ladies. We cook a low fat Weight Watcher friendly dish and bring along the printed recipe to share. We sit around and chat, enjoying each others company and dish. We talk about our diets and what's going on. Well on this particular Friday we decided to all jump full force back onto our diets. One of the women created a little group for us on Facebook. I now have the women writing down everyday what we eat. Hopefully this will keep us motivated and going.

Saturday I took my oldest daughter for her STNA test. She had been putting it off for over a year and I finally talked her into going. Won't know the results until tomorrow maybe but I know she passed. She studied so hard.

And today, well, I'm cleaning my bedroom. It was a mess! I want to move my exercise bike next to my bed and the little area where it was going needed cleaned. So I asked my husband to help and together we have that room done! Ahh!

Oh and I ordered a design wall for my quilting. It came on Thursday. I put that up yesterday and started working on that quilt again.

Well I better go get a shower and then start dinner. Or shower while dinner is cooking. We are having roast with potatoes and carrots tonight. Yum.

Friend Making Monday

What do you do to entertain yourself when you have free time?

I am learning to quilt. I have inherited my grandmother sewing machine and I'm attemtping to follow in her footsteps.
This is what I'm working on now. I do have some pieces that my grandmother cut out that I have sewn together but not finished. I have a habit of starting something and not finishing it. But this pink polka dot quilt I intend on finishing, or at least trying to finish before I start another one.

I want to start running. I can't imagine me doing it. But I want to. I want to jog. How do I get started? I mean I see the contestants on Biggest Loser running as soon as they hit the gym. Me, I'd probably fall over and die. I'm not sure how to start though. I use to blame it on smoking but I gave that up 7 years ago. I can breath now. But can I run?

Day 1........again!

I have to start this again. I can't keep watching my weight go up. It's disgusting. Heartbreaking. Disappointing. I did really well the month of January. And then February hit. Valentines Day, Anniversary and taxes. Between shopping for all those with the tax money and paying off bills then running here and there to do this or that, it was fast food or some sort of restaurant. It catches up to you.

The only way to stop this is to say No! So that's what I'm doing. I am even back to drinking pop. Ugh! I know. I know. But..no wait no but's...no excuses. I am drinking Sprite Zero. I want no caffeine except in my coffee. Once Spring really hits and if the sun ever decides to shine I'll be drinking sun tea. Oh how I love sun tea. Until then I'm drinking Sprite Zero, and I did drink 2 bottles of water yesterday. I haven't completely given up water. And I won't.
